Organic Content Standard (OCS)
Why
OCS
The Organic Content Standard (OCS) is a voluntary global standard that sets the criteria for third-party certification of organic materials and chain of custody
Â
What is
OCS
Products that comply with OCS standards are certified in accordance with an OCS certificate. Approved products are labeled with two different types of labels. After this process, it is possible to sell the product in different markets.
Benefits
OCS
The standard does not cover the certification of raw materials in the field. This will be verified independently of the production process certification. It also does not cover process inputs (e.g. chemicals), environmental conditions (e.g. energy, water use), social issues, safety issues or legal compliance. Targeted users of OCS; processors, manufacturers, brands and retailers, traders, certification bodies and organizations that support organic initiatives.
Purpose
OCS
OCS is a voluntary standard created by Textile Exchange and is not intended to change the legal or regulatory requirements of any country. It is the responsibility of each operation to prove that they comply with all applicable laws and regulations relating to marketing, employment and business practices.
